Leeward Shore

A leeward shore is in the "lee" of the wind, meaning the wind is blowing towards it. For ocean-going vessels during a storm, a leeward shore may be treacherous because it can force the boat toward the shore, where it will beach or break up. 2012

Just finished watching 2012. It's ironic, isn't it, that a species can contemplate its own extinction and then create a vision of that extinction for entertainment. Humans are weird. Movie trailer here. Kenneth Turan pans the script but lauds the special effects. Were the FX enought to carry the film for me? Nah. If I saw this in the 99 cent bin at WalMart, I'd keep walking.
